KfW Bankengruppe evening event

KfW continues the tradition of inviting delegates to a reception at its Berlin branch on the evening preceding the Congress. The exclusive setting gives Congress delegates an opportunity to hold informal initial discussions.

Retrospective and lessons from the financial market crisis

Ludwig Stiegler has been a member of the German Bundestag for almost 20 years but is not running for re-election this year. As the SPD deputy parliamentary party leader, covering the areas of economics, labour, redevelopment of eastern Germany and technology, he has had a virtually unparalleled impact on his party’s policies. Klaus Friedrich Otto and his banking magazine "Zeitschrift für das gesamt Kreditwesen" are an integral part of Germany’s finance sector. These two eminent speakers and a good barrique wine promise to make this an instructive and enter­taining evening.

Business breakfast with Dr Thilo Sarrazin

Congress Day 2 starts at 8.15 with a business breakfast. Dr Thilo Sarrazin, a former Berlin Finance Senator with experience of budget and banking reorganisation, and now a member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank, answers delegates’ questions about banking reorganisation options and the role of the government and politics in the crisis. The discussion will be moderated by Clifford Chance partner Dr Michael Weller.

Visit to the Reichstag

At 15.00 it’s time for a visit to the Reichstag. A one-hour guided tour through the symbolic historical building will give you first-hand insights into its fas­cinating architecture. Immediately after the visit, TSI is your host at a reception in the Tucher restaurant.
